This document specifies safety and performance requirements for the design, marking, assembly, and testing of two wheeled electrically power assisted cycles (hereafter EPACs), fully-assembled EPACs and subassemblies, and provides guidelines for information supplied by the manufacturers (i.e. instructions on the use and care of such EPACs). This classification covers bicycle usage conditions and a method of identifying bicycles and components for use within that system.
This classification provides a uniform set of usage definitions within the bicycle industry. Included within this classification is a set of graphical indicators to provide retailers and consumers with an indication of the intended use of a particular bicycle or aftermarket components.

This document defines a description of common terms and symbols used in the field of bicycles and two wheeled Electric Power Assisted Cycles (EPACs). The terms are classified under a nomenclature of different parts of bicycles and two wheeled EPACs, and presented in several languages.

This European Standard is intended to cover electrically power assisted cycles of a type which have a
maximum continuous rated power of 0,25 kW, of which the output is progressively reduced and finally cut off
as the vehicle reaches a speed of 25 km/h, or sooner, if the cyclist stops pedalling.

This European standard specifies safety requirements and test methods for two track cycle trailers (i.e. with one or two wheels) and their connecting devices.
These cycle trailers are intended for the conveyance of cargo loads or up to two passive child passengers (i.e. not pedalling), both of whom are capable of sitting unaided and neither of whom weighs more than 22 kg.

This European Standard specifies safety and performance requirements for the design and testing of luggage carriers intended for permanent mounting above or adjacent to the wheels of cycles and lays down guide lines for instructions on the use and care of such luggage carriers. This European Standard does not apply to removable luggage (for example handlebar bags or baskets that are not permanently attached).

ISO 6699:2016 specifies the dimensions and tolerances to ensure secure assembly between the stem and the handlebar centre of a bicycle. It is applicable for bicycles intended for use on public roads, and on which the saddle can be adjusted to provide a saddle height of 635 mm or more. It is not applicable for specialized types of bicycle, such as tradesmen's delivery bicycles, tandems, toy bicycles and bicycles designed and equipped for use in sanctioned competitive events.

ISO 11243:2016 specifies safety and performance requirements for the design and testing of luggage carriers intended for mounting (with or without tool) above and adjacent to the wheels of cycles and lays down guide lines for instructions on the use and care of such luggage carriers.
It does not apply to removable luggage (for example, handlebar bags or baskets that are not permanently attached).

ISO 6695:2015 specifies the dimensions for the assembly of cranks on bottom bracket spindles with square end fittings.

ISO 14878:2015 lays down the technical specifications, such as the sound pressure level and the durability, and specifies the corresponding test method for audible warning devices (AWD) which may be fitted to cycles. ISO 14878:2015 applies to all types of audible warning devices (AWD) for use on bicycles.

ISO 5775-2:2015 specifies rim dimensions for bicycle tyres: it gives only those rim contour dimensions necessary for tyre mounting and to fit the tyre on the rim. ISO 5775‑1 covers designations and dimensions for tyres. ISO 5775‑2 covers straight side (SS) rims, hooked bead type (HB) rims and crotchet type (C) rims.
